Often applied topically to numb an area of the skin in preparation for injection, incision, or a small procedure. Often used when working with children or nervous patients. Must be applied using occlusive film dressings. While Emla cream helps to dull or prevent the feeling of pain, the patient will still be able to feel pressure.
